We LOVE the beach! For the past few years, my husband and I have tried to make it a priority through out the summer. It can be alittle tricky being as we live in Alberta and there isn’t an abundance of sandy beaches (although we’ve got you covered in the beautiful farmlands or majestic mountains department). We usually like to head to Gull Lake in central Alberta, but this week we were visiting my sister in southern Alberta so we headed to Wally’s Beach. It was crazy fun and our littles had a blast playing with their cousins on the beach.
I’ve had the idea of using found objects to spice up our beach sculptures for awhile and thought this would be the perfect time to try. Before we headed down to my sister’s, I grabbed a few things I had around the house. I kept it simple with some glass gems and a few seashells.
As you can see, those little hands were itching to use them, although the allure of a giant hole in the sand soon captured all their attention. They all set to work creating a ‘hot tub’ on the beach and my sister and I were left to create something with these little gems. We sat back and soaked up the beautiful view while the kids played and we tinkered abit with the found objects. We were sure to pick up all the pieces and take them with us when we were done … no man left behind!
I plan to continually add to our little beach collection of found objects and cannot wait till next summer. The kids and I can use them to decorate sand castles and all sorts of things! I love that the possibilities are endless!
Hope you’re all enjoying the last few days of summer vacation too!!
