I have been collecting and hoarding yarn for quite some time. Every time I go to the craft store I think “I have to get this! We can do something awesome with it!!”. Well, the time has come to do something awesome with it! God’s Eye weaving! I had completely forgotten about this craft and thought it would be the perfect thing to pass the afternoon with the kids. They are so simple to make and the repetition is very relaxing.
Materials + Supplies
- Popsicle sticks, twigs, chopsticks, etc
- Paint + Markers (optional)
- Cross your chosen sticks to make an X + wrap the yarn around the center 10 times. Rotate your X + wrap the yarn around the center 10 more times.
- Take the yarn and wrap it around one of the sticks, rotate + then wrap it around the next stick. Continue this process until the sticks are mostly full. If you want to change the color of yarn simply tie a new color onto the end of the last one + keep wrapping. Tie the yarn off at the end to complete your God’s Eye.
So simple and the kids loved making them! After a few rounds of traditional God’s Eyes, we were inspired to make cute little turtles from this post on Pink Stripey Socks. My middle little loves turtles and quickly turned into a turtle making factory!
