This simple phrase is something that I hold very close to my heart. It has such a positive power … “You are one in a million”. It’s taken me many years to accept my individuality and to embrace it. We are all unique and special in our own ways, no one person is better than the next.
This is something that I want to instill in my children. I want them to know and understand how special they are, that they are one in a million! I also want them to have a positive inner voice, which is something we have been working on (you can read about it here). To help us remember our unique individuality, I created a daily reminder. I put it right above our front door, so as we come and go from our home we can be uplifted by this simple phrase. It also happens to be right outside of our art room, so the kids see it as they create too!
I didn’t want the phrase to scream at you as you walked past, I wanted it to be a gentle reminder. I picked up some wooden letters from our local craft store and painted them to match the wall color. To add a subtle pop of color, I painted the edges in a rainbow of colors. I then attached them to the wall using Command Picture Hanging Strips because I didn’t want a bunch of holes in my walls and it ended up giving them a cool floating effect.
I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out! I love this reminder in our home and how it helps us to stay positive and remember how unique we all are.
